Specifically used in Knorr-Bremse calipers, this seal set is designed to completely isolate the internal space containing the adjustment gears, bearing elements, and automatic clearance mechanism from the external environment. It provides continuous protection against high-pressure washing, moisture, road salt, and fine particles.

In brake caliper overhauls and refurbishments, the condition of this seal directly affects the service life of the internal mechanism. A sheet metal cover seal that has hardened, been crushed, or damaged during assembly can allow moisture to enter the caliper, leading to deterioration of the grease structure and rust formation on the metal surfaces.
